Tasting notes

How it actually drinks

01

Nose

Fresh lemon zest first, then steeped black tea underneath. Clean: no spirit burn, no artificial candy note.

02

Palate

Bright citrus over a tannic tea backbone. Light body, no fizz, the vodka sitting well behind the flavor rather than on top of it.

03

Finish

Tupelo honey closes it out, floral and round, sweet without being sugary. Dry enough that the next sip is inevitable.

Serving

Three ways to pour it

The way it was designed. Chill to 38–42°F, crack it, go. Because there is no carbonation there is nothing to fizz over when it has been rattling around a cart for nine holes. It drinks the same on the first tee and the last green.
Fill a rocks glass with one large cube, pour the full can over it and add a lemon wheel. The cube dilutes slowly, so the tea and honey open up rather than washing out. This is the clubhouse pour.
Chill the can and the glass, pour straight into a coupe or Nick & Nora, express a lemon peel over the top and drop it in. No shaker, no jigger. It is already a finished cocktail, so all you are doing is dressing it.
Do not top it with soda or tonic: the whole point is that it is still. Do not serve it warm; the tannin gets harsh above about 50°F. And do not shake it with ice, which over-dilutes a drink that is already balanced.

Questions

The short answers

No. Hole in 1 is completely still. That is deliberate. It means no bloat, no foam-over after a bumpy cart ride, and no flat-seltzer problem when the can warms in the sun.
Yes. Hole in 1 is gluten free, as stated on the can.
5.9% ALC/VOL in a 12 oz (355 mL) can. That is comparable to a strong beer, and lower than most canned cocktails, which is what makes it sessionable across a full eighteen.
No. A hard seltzer is carbonated water with flavor and usually a malt or sugar base. Hole in 1 is a still cocktail built on premium vodka with natural flavors of black tea, tupelo honey and lemon.
It is shelf stable, so it does not have to be refrigerated to keep. It does have to be cold to taste right, chill it thoroughly before serving.
